shareという英語
英語を日本語にしようとするときなかなか適当な言葉が見つからない英語があります。shareという動詞もその一つです。
shareの基本の意味は何かを人と分けることですが…そこからさまざまに広がって、その時々でいろいろな日本語が必要になります。
ちょっとじゃれマガを見ても色々な例があります。
If you made a resolution this year, please send it to me. I’d like to share it on Readers’ Corner tomorrow.（一年の計を考えたのなら送ってください。読者に紹介したいと思います）
They invited the native Americans to share their food.（英国からアメリカ大陸に渡った人たちが地元の人たちと一緒に食事をしようと招待した）
You can see that these trees have something in common because they share the first name.（これらの木々は分類名の一部が同じということは共通する性質を持っている）
I met Mr. Jarrell in Sapporo at the beginning of this month, but I didn’t have enough time to talk with him. Actually, I had one special small thing to share with him.（･･･彼に教えてあげたいトリビアがあった）
以上、勝手な訳をつけましたが、同じものを分けて持つ（分かち合う）という元の意味からさまざまな場面に使えます。便利なshareを使ってみましょう。

Readers’ Corner: The Nagaragawa Cup
I used to teach night school at another high school, but now I teach English at a public high school which is very good academically. The environment is totally different, and it was difficult for me at first, but I am doing fine now. Yesterday I went to an English debate tournament in Gifu City. It is called the Nagaragawa Cup after the famous river in that city. I saw high school students debating various topics. I was overwhelmed by their great speeches, so after that I decided to practice making speeches more often.
