“Rizz”
Last month, a Jaremaga reader introduced some of the top buzzwords of the year in Japan. “Are” (or A.R.E.) was chosen as the number one buzzword. It is the favorite word of Manager Okada of the Hanshin Tigers. Oxford University Press introduced some of this year’s most popular words in English-speaking countries. There were two very popular words: “Swiftie” and “rizz.” Taylor Swift is one of the most popular singers in the world, and her fans are called Swifties. “Rizz” is another popular word. It comes from “charisma” (ka-rizz-ma). If you have rizz, you have charm and are good at attracting the opposite sex. A famous actor used it and it went viral. In the end, “rizz” won.
A mistake in yesterday’s Jaremaga: On his new contract with the Dodgers, Ohtani will make 10 billion yen per year, and he will get 60 million yen per game.
