Home Run Samurai
A big congratulations to Ohtani Shohei! He is the first Japanese player to become home run king in the Major Leagues, He won the home run title in the American League when the regular season finished on October 1. Even though he didn’t play for the last month because of an injury, no one could catch up to his 44 home runs. His nearest competitor, Adolis Garcia of the Texas Rangers, hit 39 homers. How did Ohtani do it? He started hitting home runs in April and just kept on hitting more. In June alone, he hit 15 home runs! By August 3, he already had 40 home runs. He hit so many home runs that fans got used to seeing him in his home run samurai helmet.
