・今はブルガリアは自由な国なのでもう戻ってきました…現在完了時制は便利ですね。戻った時期は言わずとも今は戻っていることを伝えられますね。
・ブルガリアは変わった･･･ということをbe differentで伝えられることも良いお手本ですね。前の文でNowがあることなどから以前の同国とは違う、つまり変わったと伝えられます。

A Tourist from Bulgaria
I was taking a photo of the sun going down behind some clouds when a man from Bulgaria started talking to me. He thought the sunset was beautiful, too. He spoke excellent English because he had moved to Australia when he was 17. He and his father didn’t like the life in Bulgaria, but the Bulgarian government didn’t let people leave the country at that time (in 1979). They had to hide in the back of a truck in order to get out. Now Bulgaria is a free country, and he has moved back. He says that Bulgaria is very different, and he enjoys living there now. Actually, Czechoslovakia and all the eastern European countries have the same history. They weren’t free until 1989 when the Iron Curtain came down.
