Not as Soft as Pasta
I was talking to my sister in the U.S. on Sunday, and she said that she has started eating shirataki tofu noodles. I had never heard of them even though they are made by House Foods, a Japanese company. These noodles are becoming popular because they have fewer calories than regular pasta. They are made of tofu and Asian yam flour (“konnyaku”). One kind of noodle is for ramen, and it comes in two flavors: soy sauce or soybean paste (“miso”). House also sells tofu noodles for spaghetti and fettuccine. My sister likes them because they are great for diets, but some customers complain that they are not as soft as regular pasta.
