・直接/直に/面と向かって･･･in personは大事な英語ですね。どういう場合に使われるかいろいろな例で慣れていく必要があります。

Readers’ Corner: Christmas in Summer
I came to Australia last April. This is the first time I’m spending summer in the southern hemisphere. Christmas here seems quite different from Christmas in Japan. We have strong sunlight even in the morning, so students have to wear hats when they play outside at school. Some kids came to school wearing Santa hats, but I am suspicious. I don’t think those hats will work. On the last day of this term, I saw a teacher passing by. I said ‘Hi!’ as usual, but she replied saying “Merry Christmas!” That was really surprising to me. Of course, I know what it means, but it has never been said to me in person. I feel like I’m in a Christmas movie.
