He plays the guitar pretty well but doesn’t play the piano.
（彼はギターはとても上手だがピアノは弾かない）
このように楽器を弾くときは無条件でtheがつきますね。
理由はありません。
昔からそうなのでnative speakerもわけわからないままtheをつけるのだそうです。
ところが近年はI don’t play a guitar.のようにいうnativeが徐々に増えているそうです。
英語の世界はダイナミックですね。

Paying for Convenience
When you pay for something in cash, you usually get some coins back as change. What do you do with the small coins? Do you try to use them the next time you shop? Or do you put them in a jar and save them? I know some people who have a jar full of 1-yen and 10-yen coins, but they don’t use them because they don’t want to count them. Now there is a machine called Coinstar that counts your money for you. You can find a few of these machines in stores in the large cities of Japan. You put all your coins into the machine, and it gives you a receipt. You then take the receipt to a special counter and get the money in large coins and bills. Of course, this convenience isn’t free. You have to pay for it.
