Readers’ Corner: Becoming a Hero
The story of your daughter’s birthday reminded me of my son’s birthday a while ago. When he turned three, my wife, her mother, her father, and I celebrated his birthday by giving him a toy belt as his birthday present. It was a belt that had appeared on his hero’s TV program. When the main character made use of it, he could become Kamen Rider, a hero that got rid of villains. My son put on the belt and tried to become that hero. Suddenly he said, “Nothing happened!” All of us burst out laughing.
