Exploring the Neighborhood
My wife and I have been going out in the evening and exploring the neighborhoods around us. She was born and grew up in the area, so she has a lot of memories. She points out a house and says, “Oh, this was where one of my junior high school friends used to live.” Last night, we passed an old western-style building. I don’t think anyone lives there anymore. She said, “I remember going into this house. It was the first time I saw a western-style toilet. The people living there didn’t know how to sit on it, so they made the floor higher around it and used it like a Japanese-style toilet!”
