金曜日は読者の作品です。NYで高校の同窓会に出席したというお話です。
★学びたい英語/まねたい英語（特にお手本と思うところ）
・再会/同窓会/クラス会などにreunionが使えます。ちゃんと発音できる人は基礎ができている人ですね。
・連絡を取り合っている・・・keep in touch withは日本語にしにくい英語の一つですね、というか日本語が不便です。be in touch withも使われます。
・懐かしい・・・oldは古い/歳とった、ばかりではありませんね
・悲しいことに・・・副詞で文全体を修飾しています。文頭に置いてカンマをつけます。
・パンデミックが原因で・・・必須の英語ですね

Readers’ Corner: My High School Reunion
In September 2016 I attended the 50th reunion of my high school class in New York. I had lived in New York with my parents for two and a half years starting in 1964, but we returned to Japan after my graduation. I didn’t keep in touch with my classmates. Then, one day in 2015, I googled the name of the high school. I found the home page of the class of ‘66 and learned that they were planning to have their 50th reunion in 2016 in New York. I went and had an amazing time with my old friends. The reunion was so good that the committee of the class decided to have our 55th reunion in September this year. Sadly, it was canceled due to the pandemic.
