Earth dayは日本ではあまり盛り上がりがありませんね。でも今日のじゃれマガを読むと改めて大事な日だとわかります。

・（今年は）土曜日にあたる･･･fall on ～は日付についてよく使われるほか、たくさんの中から何かにあたる時には何に寄らず使われます。
・air, water, food…と言ってもいいところですが、詳しくいうことで大切さを強調出来ますね。英語は面白いなと思うひとつがこれです。
・空気が悪くなった･･･becomeよりもgetを使ことが圧倒的に多いですね。

Earth Day
Earth Day is on April 22 every year, and this year it fell on Saturday. Earth Day is a day for people to think about the Earth. Many cultures call our planet Mother Earth because it gives us what we need to live: air to breathe, water to drink, and food to eat. We grow plants, and we raise animals on the land. The sea is full of fish for us to catch. The forests give us wood to build houses and to burn for cooking and heating. About 50 years ago, however, people started Earth Day because they saw that people were making Mother Earth sick with their industries and their cars. The air was getting bad, the water was killing the fish, the forests were disappearing, and CO2 was making the Earth warmer. On Earth Day, people should try to think more about the environment. How can we protect nature and stop killing our planet?
