“I’ve Been Waiting 38 Years!”
The Orix Buffaloes, last year’s champions, were playing the Hanshin Tigers, a team that hadn’t won a series since 1985. They were tied with 3 wins each. The winner of this game would be the champion of Japanese baseball. The Tigers took the lead in the fourth inning and never lost it. The final score was 7-1. The stands were full of excited Tigers’ fans in striped jerseys or in yellow. Most of them were jumping up and down with their hands in the air. They looked very, very happy, and some were crying for joy. One man held up a sign that said, “I’ve been waiting 38 years for this!”
