Readers’ Corner: Seniors Driving
I have recently heard two interesting stories about seniors driving. An 81-year-old lady said, “I went out by car one day, and I suddenly had no idea how to start the car engine. I had to ask a stranger to do it for me. Somehow, I managed to drive my car back home. Then my daughter said to me, ‘That incident is telling you to quit driving, mother.’ I agreed with her and no longer drive.” The other story is about my daughter’s father-in-law. He is 91 years old, and he is still driving his car, but only in his neighborhood. He lives alone in the country and cannot do without a car. Now I’m in my 70s, and I wonder how long I can or should drive.
