Making Electricity Yourself
How can you make electricity to charge your own phone by yourself? One library in Utrecht, a city in the Netherlands, has an answer. They have built a special counter and attached the back half of three bicycles to each side. Six people can sit on the saddles and put their devices on the counter. When they pedal, they make electricity. They use the electricity to run their computers, tablets, or smartphones, and they can also charge them. These users don’t need to use the library’s electricity, so they are helping the library to save energy. At the same time, they are getting exercise. What a great idea!
