洋楽少年だった私はもちろんこの歌は聞いていましたが、Pete Seegerの作だったことも聖書が基になっているとは知りませんでした。

A Great Song from the Bible
Pete Seeger wrote many great folk songs, but the lyrics of one of his best songs come from the Bible. “Turn, Turn, Turn” is about how the world turns and changes. It has a beautiful melody, and a rock band called The Byrds made it the number one song in the U.S. in 1965. Here are some of the lyrics:
“To everything, turn, turn, turn,
There is a season, turn, turn, turn,
And a time to every purpose, under heaven.
A time to be born, a time to die,
A time to plant, a time to reap,
A time to kill, a time to heal,
A time to laugh, a time to weep.”
Seeger wrote the song to ask for peace.
“A time for love, a time for hate,
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late.”
