Readers’ Corner: Please Move Forward
I had a reunion with some friends last weekend. As everyone was living in a different prefecture, I took them to Nagoya Castle. We got there quite late, 30 minutes before closing time, but fortunately we were able to enter Hommaru Palace. When we started walking down the hallway, one of the staff told all the guests, “Please move forward and do not stop so that all of the guests can see everything.” After that, we were told to keep moving several times, and it didn’t stop until we got out of the palace just at closing time. We were very surprised, but we’ve figured that it was part of the “Hatarakikata-kaikaku,” the work system reform: no more overtime work for the staff.
