Changing Fashions
Fashions are always changing. In Japan, for example, “cool biz” started around 2005. Before that, businessmen had to wear ties and jackets, so in summer they used a lot of electricity to keep cool. Cool biz meant that businessmen could take off their ties and jackets. They were no longer so hot and could turn the air conditioning down, using less electricity. Since COVID-19, there has been another revolution. People have gotten used to working from home and wearing more casual clothes. In the U.S. some businesspeople have started wearing T-shirts. That sounds almost too casual, but it depends on what you wear over the T-shirt. If you wear a jacket, a nice T-shirt can look professional.
