Winter Fires
Why are there so many fires in winter? One reason is heating. People use heaters to keep warm, but sometimes they put things near the heater, and those things catch fire. Fires burn fast and spread quickly in winter because the air is drier than in summer. I am a little worried because there have been two fires in my area of Nagoya this month. The first one was about 2 kilometers away. It was a big fire, and nine buildings burned down. Luckily, no one was badly hurt. Then, yesterday, there was another fire much closer to my apartment. One house burned down, but this time someone died. Be careful of fires this winter!
