Expensive News!
While I was in the U.S., I didn’t read a newspaper. Actually, I didn’t see a newspaper anywhere. I stayed at a hotel, but there were no newspapers in the lobby. I stayed with my daughter in Virginia, but she doesn’t get a newspaper. Neither does my sister in New Hampshire. They get their news online or from the TV. I usually read print newspapers when I’m in Japan, so I missed them in the U.S. As I was leaving for Japan on the last day, I decided to buy a newspaper to read on the plane. I bought the Boston Globe, the leading newspaper in the Boston area. it was $3.50, or 500 yen at today’s exchange rate. Now that is expensive news!
