It Will Go Down in History
The final game of the Summer Koshien High School Baseball Championship was between Keio High School and last year’s winner, Sendai Ikuei High School. There are two reasons why yesterday’s game will go down in history. First, Maruta of Keio was the first batter of the game, and he hit a home run. No one has done that before. He helped Keio win the game and the tournament. That was the second reason. Keio hadn’t been the champion for more than 100 years! It was a close game until the fifth inning. Then Keio got 5 runs. It looked like the end of the game. The Sendai Ikuei players were discouraged, but their manager gave them a talk, and they came back with smiles on their faces. They fought hard, but they couldn’t get any more runs. In the end, Keio won 8-2.
