台風７号は国際的にはLanという名前がついていますが、いよいよ今日本州に上陸です。名古屋に住むジャレルさんご夫妻も準備完了で待機しているそうです。

・台風７号は紀伊半島に上陸した･･･という大意ですがlandfallは本来航海ののち最初に見た陸地、あるいは飛行機が見た陸地だそうです。
・be prepared は準備ができているということですね。形は受動態ですが意味合いは受け身ということでもないですね。

Prepared for Typhoon Lan
Last week I talked about Typhoon Khanun, which hit Okinawa. Today I want to talk about Typhoon Lan, called Typhoon #7 here in Japan. It has just made landfall on the Kii Peninsula and is moving north towards Osaka and Kobe. There are heavy wind and rain warnings in Nagoya, so my wife and I are planning to stay home all day. We are prepared for the typhoon. We went shopping for food yesterday, so we don’t need to go out today. Even if we lose our power (electricity), all my electronic devices are charged. The batteries in my computer, my iPad, and my smartphone are all full. My wife also moved the potted plants inside from the balcony last night. Now we just have to wait until the typhoon blows over.
