Fujii, the Greatest!
Fujii Sota is the greatest shogi player in Japan now. He keeps breaking records. This time he became the youngest player to win 6 titles. He won the Kio title when he beat Watanabe Akira yesterday. He is only the second player in the history of professional shogi to hold 6 titles. The first player to do that was Habu Yoshiharu. Habu held 7 titles in 1996 when he was 25 years old. Fujii Sota is only 20, and he will start playing Watanabe once more in April for the Meijin title. Will he tie Habu’s record? Will he go on to become the first player to hold all 8 titles?
