The Biggest Countries
Which is the biggest country in the world? If you are talking about size, Russia is number one. It is almost twice as large as the second largest country, Canada. Other large countries include China (number 3), the U.S.A. (number 4), and Brazil (number 5). If you are talking about population, China was the largest country until this year. Now, the United Nations says that India probably has more people than China. The Indians are having more babies than the Chinese, so India is growing faster. Each of these countries has a population of about 1.4 billion people. The U.S.A. is number 3, but it only has a population of 336 million people. That it less than 1/4 of the population of India or China.
