・ヤクルトに負けた･･･勝ち負けの言い方はたくさんありますが、lose to という言い方も大事ですね。
・ひどく/散々の･･･badlyは使い勝手がいいですね。want badly（欲しくてたまらない）のように、ときには肯定の意味にも。
・（イチローが）チームにいた･･･inではなくon the teamということに注意ですね。

The First Title Since Ichiro
On Sunday, baseball fans around Japan were wondering if there would there be an eighth game in the Japan Series. Usually, the series is 7 games, but this year there was a tie in Game 2. If the Yakult Swallows won Sunday’s game, each team would have 3 wins and a tie, and there would be an eighth game. Orix lost the Japan Series to Yakult last year, so they really wanted to win this year. They began the series badly with 2 losses and a tie, but then they started to win. On Sunday, they won the seventh game 5-4 and won the series. It was Orix’s first title since 1996, when Ichiro was still on the team.
