Readers’ Corner: An Unexpected Meeting in California
I am an 85-year-old man from Kyushu. In November 1983, while on a business trip to San Francisco, I met an old high school classmate for the first time in 27 years while waiting for a traffic light at an intersection near San Francisco Station on the Southern Pacific Railroad line. I was on my way to visit Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, which is in Silicon Valley, and he said that he was working in Silicon Valley. We both exclaimed, “It’s a Small World!”
