Great to Be Back
For Suzuki Seiya, it was great to be back. He went to the Major Leagues from the Hiroshima Carp this spring, but he was injured at the end of May. The July 4 game was his first in more than a month. The score was tied at 1-1 in the top of the ninth inning. Suzuki came up to bat. He hit the ball hard and took off running. The ball hit the back fence, and Suzuki kept running. He ran past second base, and he didn’t stop at third. He slid head-first into home plate for an inside-the-park home run! The Cubs were now in the lead, 2-1. Unfortunately, they lost the game, but what an exciting return to the game for Suzuki!
