A Hand-me-down App
On Tanegashima Island, south of Kagoshima City, they have a tradition of hand-me-downs. People often give their friends and neighbors old school uniforms that can still be worn. Many people come to work for JAXA, the Japanese space agency, so the children are in the schools for a short time. There are also foreign exchange students. These two groups didn’t use to get hand-me-downs because they didn’t know anyone. Instead, they had to buy everything new. A couple of students at Tanegashima Chuo High School decided to help them. They developed an app called “osagari” which allows people to go online and find hand-me-downs. What a great idea!
